History of SAKIORI

In the middle period of Edo era,
SAKIORI developed as a rebirth technique which use the precious clothes to the end.

In Nanbu clan (now Tohoku district,from Iwate prefecture to Hachinohe city in Aomori prefecture)
in spite of the cold district,the prefecture prohibited the peasant to wear not only silk cloth
which keep warm but also cotton cloth.
Only old cloth was permilted but it was very difficult to get the old cloth.

SAKIORI was born in that situation.
Because old,thread bare,and torn clrn cloth which can't use anymore,
change to a new cloth again if they tear the cloth and weave it as ayarn.

A thick cloth was revived to tear and twist the old cloth and weave
it as a woof by hand loom.

Now in the modarn life the necessity was lost but the warm style
of the special SAKIORI is recognized again and watched as a new material.
